Work Experience |
Sep. 2022 - Ongoing | STEM educator
I design lab-based activities that help students understand the scientific method in a tangible way — not just equations on the board. Working in the classroom has also taught me how to manage complex relational dynamics, guide group work, and support emotional growth in young people. |
Apr. 2020 - Aug. 2022 | Phd program in Applied Physics I worked as a member of the Organic Photonics and Nano-optics group, focusing on the fabrication and optical/electrical characterization of polymer-based nano-resonators. My research combined experimental work in a cleanroom with simulation-based analysis (FDTD and COMSOL), and aimed at understanding temperature-dependent transport phenomena and electrochemical tunability in polymeric films. |
1 Feb. 2020 - 31 Feb 2020 | STEM educator at secondary school |
13 Jan. 2020 - 31 Jan. 2020 | STEM educator at secondary school |
Research and Lab experience |
Familiar with advanced lab instrumentation, including thin-film deposition systems (sputterer, spin coater), etching and cleaning tools (RIE, UV-ozone, plasma cleaner), and electronic prototyping (Arduino and similars).
During my PhD, I worked in a cleanroom on the fabrication and optical/electrical characterization of nanostructured polymeric devices. I used spectrophotometers, FTIR, profilometers, and AFM, as well as lasers and FDTD/FE modeling.
As a teacher, I developed hands-on classroom demonstrations to connect theory with physical reality, covering optics, wave propagation, thermology, and mechanics. My goal was to bring research-level thinking into school labs.
Technical skills (OS, software, programming, etc.) | |
OS | Good knowledge of Windows based systems |
Office - OpenOffice suite | Good knowledge of Word, Excel/Calc spreadsheet, Powerpoint |
Programming Languages | Labview (used since 2008. Ability to structure and build daq programs, instrumentation control, data analysis) Good knowledge: LATEX, Lumerical, Python Basic Knowledge / used in the past: C++, Basic, ROOT, Autocad, Photoshop, Matlab, Verilog for FPGA, Comsol, OriginLab |
Simulations | I used FE and FDTD simulations for modelling the optical response of nanostructured novel materials. |
Software for education | interactive tools (mentimeter, prezi) and STEM software (graphical calcs, Geogebra) |
Soft skills |
I build collaborative and inclusive environments, both in research and in the classroom. I value active listening, clear communication, and constructive feedback across all roles.
Teaching has strengthened my ability to manage group dynamics, support individuals under pressure, and resolve conflicts with empathy and clarity.
I approach complex problems with structure and initiative. I’m effective in adapting to constraints and delivering results, especially in hands-on or unpredictable contexts.
I manage multiple timelines efficiently, from lesson planning to research milestones. I combine structured scheduling with space for adaptation and self-assessment.
My academic and work experience in multicultural settings has shaped a flexible mindset and a deep interest in cross-cultural collaboration.
